Every client's bank data, in your working papers.

For bookkeepers and accountants. Clients connect their own bank from your request, and their transactions reach your sheet each week, whether they keep a ledger or not. Your advisor workspace is free.

Business Checking · feed activity

A weekly close that starts from the bank

Give each client a weekly feed and the past week's transactions are in your sheet by Monday, with merchant, category, account and balance. Rulesets, lookup tables and the transfer matcher do the first pass, so only the rows that need you reach your review queue.

Receipts work the same way. Document Extractor gives a client's workspace its own inbox address, and the total, tax and vendor land beside the matching transaction.

Tax season from the bank

Ask each client in January. One request covers the connection and your questions, and reminders go out before your deadline. The first sync reads the history the bank provides, so the tax year is ready to categorise.

Clients forward 1099s, W-2s, K-1s and receipts to their Document Extractor inbox. After filing, keep sharing for year-round clients or stop for one-off returns.

How a client connects

  1. 1You add a client from your client list and send the request by email, or copy its link and send it through your own email, text or practice software.
  2. 2Your client opens it and enters the code we email to them, so a forwarded link is no use to anyone else.
  3. 3They confirm they are happy to share with you, then connect on their bank’s usual consent screen.
  4. 4Their banks appear in your client list. Each request shows whether it was sent, opened, verified, connected or has stalled, and you can send a reminder.

Free for you, and the client pays by default

Your advisor workspace is free on every plan, Free included, with unlimited clients. The client list, portfolio health, client requests and advisor access cost nothing.

By default each client keeps their own workspace on Starter ($5 a month for 1 bank) or Standard ($7 a month for 5 banks) and shares it with you. They see their own banks and can add a feed or an export without you, so what they pay for stays theirs.

On Professional, Business or Enterprise you can cover a client instead, from your plan's bank quota. Your client list marks each client “Client pays” or “You cover”. Banks you connect for your own practice need a plan of their own. See plans

Requests come from you

A request arrives from “Your name via BankSync”. Until you verify your practice, clients see your email address. Once you verify, they see your practice's name and logo on the request and the sharing step.

An unverified advisor can have 10 open requests at a time, and a verified one 100. A client can share with up to 3 advisors, and either side can stop sharing at any time.

Your activity stays private. BankSync shows no rankings, badges or client counts for advisors anywhere.

Questions

How do I collect bank statements from clients?

Send a request instead. Your client connects their bank once through open banking, and the transactions keep arriving with dates, amounts, merchants and balances, so there is nothing to download, forward or re-key.

Is this a client portal for bookkeepers?

It covers the part of a client portal that matters for bank data: one link to your client, their own bank’s consent screen, and every client’s accounts in your list. Each client keeps their own workspace and shares it with you.

Can I run this alongside Xero or QuickBooks?

Yes. You can keep your ledger and use BankSync for the clients and work that live in spreadsheets, Notion or Airtable, or read raw transactions through the API.

How is BankSync different from Hubdoc, Dext or AutoEntry?

Those turn receipts into rows. BankSync pulls transactions, balances, holdings and trades from the bank itself; add Document Extractor and the receipt fields land beside the matching transaction.

How often does client data sync?

Hourly, daily or weekly depending on the plan that pays for the client’s workspace, plus a manual sync.

How much history can I pull for a tax return?

The first sync reads up to two years where the bank provides it. Some banks give less, UK banks especially, so check the first sync before relying on a full year.

Can I get the data into Drake, Lacerte, ProConnect or UltraTax?

Export the categorised sheet and use your tax software’s CSV import. BankSync does not write into tax software directly.

What about clients with several entities?

Each entity can be its own client workspace with its own consent, or one workspace can hold several bank connections. You can mix both.

What does a client pay?

By default they keep their own workspace on Starter ($5 a month for 1 bank) or Standard ($7 a month for 5 banks) and share it with you. On Professional, Business or Enterprise you can cover them from your own bank quota instead. Your advisor workspace is free.

What happens when the engagement ends?

Either side stops sharing and your access ends straight away. The client keeps their workspace, and anything you already exported to your own sheets stays yours.

BankSync for Advisors covers planners, fractional CFOs and advisers too.
