Bank transactions in the workbook you have open
Open BankSync beside your sheet in Excel on the web, Windows or Mac. Connect a bank once and new rows keep arriving, even while Excel is closed.

What the add-in does.
- Excel
- Excel on the web, Windows and Mac with Microsoft 365. iPad and phones show a note to use your computer.
- Workbooks
- Saved in OneDrive or SharePoint. A file only on your computer, or one not yet saved, can’t receive a feed; the pane tells you which.
- Schedule
- Rows arrive from BankSync’s servers with Excel closed: hourly on Professional and above, daily or weekly on other plans, or Sync now.
- Sign-in
- Email and password, or Google. On a Mac, Google sign-in uses a short code you approve in your browser.
- Work accounts
- Connecting Microsoft asks to read and write your files. Some organisations need an administrator to approve that once; BankSync gives you a link to send them.
- Account settings
- Billing, two-step verification, API keys and deleting your account open in your browser, never in the pane.
- Same feeds
- Feeds made in Excel are ordinary bank feeds: manage them in Excel or in the BankSync app.
Questions, answered.
What is the BankSync add-in for Excel?
A task pane that opens from the Home tab in Excel. It recognises the workbook you have open, and a feed you create there writes your bank transactions or balances into it. The pane is BankSync itself, so you can connect banks and manage feeds without leaving Excel.
Which versions of Excel does it work in?
Excel on the web, Excel for Windows and Excel for Mac with Microsoft 365. On an iPad, iPhone or Android device the pane only tells you to open BankSync on your computer.
Does the workbook have to be in OneDrive or SharePoint?
Yes. BankSync writes from its own servers through your Microsoft account, so it can only reach a workbook saved in OneDrive or SharePoint. A file saved only on your computer, or a new workbook you have not saved yet, cannot receive a feed. Preview sample rows works in any workbook.
Do rows keep arriving when Excel is closed?
Yes. Each feed runs on its own schedule on BankSync’s servers: hourly on Professional and above, daily or weekly on other plans, and Sync now whenever you like. Excel does not need to be open: rows are written to the workbook file, and an open workbook shows them once Excel picks up the change.
How do I sign in?
With your BankSync email and password, or with Google. Google sign-in opens a small window; on Excel for Mac, where that window cannot show Google, the pane gives you a short code to approve in your browser instead.
My work account says it needs admin approval. What now?
Connecting Microsoft asks for permission to read and write your files, and some organisations only let an administrator grant that. BankSync gives you a single-use link to send to your IT admin; approval is needed once for the whole organisation.
Can I see what it writes before connecting anything?
Yes. Preview sample rows writes 20 made-up transactions into the active sheet, or into a new BankSync preview sheet when the active one already has data. Nothing is connected and BankSync stores nothing. Delete the rows whenever you like.
Where do I get it?
BankSync for Excel is not on Microsoft Marketplace yet. The setup guide explains how to start before the listing is live.
