Updated September 2026
BankSync is a Finta alternative mainly for Australian banks, Excel or database destinations, and longer history. Both tools sync bank data to Google Sheets, Notion and Airtable and offer AI access through MCP. Finta covers continental Europe and Coda and is cheaper per bank; BankSync adds Australia's Consumer Data Right, Excel, Postgres and webhooks.
Of the tools BankSync gets compared with, Finta is the closest peer, so this comparison is mostly about fit rather than one being better. Finta facts come from its homepage, pricing, coverage, features and Google Sheets guide pages, checked in September 2026.
What does Finta do well?
- Several no-code destinations. Finta syncs to Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable and Coda, and lists an MCP client for AI assistants and a REST API.
- Broad Europe coverage. Finta uses Plaid for the US and Canada and GoCardless for banks across the UK and Europe, with 12,000+ supported institutions in total.
- Stripe and Mercury. It has direct integrations for Stripe and Mercury, useful for founders tracking business revenue and banking together.
- Strong value per bank. The Standard plan covers up to 10 banks for $70/year, and Pro offers unlimited bank connections for $150/year.
- AI and API included. Standard includes AI-powered categorisation, MCP access and developer API access. There is also a rules engine for categorisation.
- Low-friction trial. 7 days, no credit card required.
- Up to 24 months of history from most banks, according to its Google Sheets guide.
Where does BankSync differ from Finta?
Australia. Finta's coverage page lists the US, Canada, Europe and the UK, and does not mention Australia. BankSync connects Australian banks through the Consumer Data Right as a CDR Representative of Fiskil, an Accredited Data Recipient, and backfills up to 7 years of Australian history on the first sync.
Excel, databases and webhooks. Finta's destinations are Sheets, Notion, Airtable and Coda. BankSync writes to Google Sheets, Notion and Airtable too, and also to Excel (a workbook on OneDrive), Postgres or MySQL, and webhooks. BankSync does not support Coda.
Scheduling you control. Finta syncs when the provider reports new activity (Plaid) or on a bank-specific schedule with no gap longer than 24 hours (GoCardless). BankSync lets you choose the cadence: weekly on Starter, daily on Standard, and hourly on Professional and above, with Sync Now on every plan.
SimpleFIN apps and YNAB. BankSync is also a SimpleFIN server, so budgeting apps like Actual Budget can use the same bank connections, and it offers YNAB as a destination in early access.
Where Finta is ahead. For banks in continental Europe, Finta's GoCardless coverage is broader than BankSync's today; BankSync's live markets are the US, Canada, Australia and the UK. Finta is also cheaper if you have many banks.

How does BankSync pricing compare with Finta?
Finta's pricing page lists two annual plans: Standard at $70/year (shown as $5.83/month) for up to 10 banks, and Pro at $150/year (shown as $12.50/month) for unlimited bank connections, higher API and MCP limits, and priority support.
BankSync plans, billed annually: Starter $48/year (1 bank connection, weekly), Standard $72/year (5 connections, daily, MCP and webhooks), Professional $192/year (15 connections, hourly, up to five team members) and Business $588/year (30 connections). Monthly billing is also available from $5/month. See BankSync pricing.
Plainly: per bank, Finta costs less. BankSync makes sense when you need Australian banks, Excel or a database as a destination, hourly schedules, or longer history.
Should you choose BankSync or Finta?
Choose Finta if you bank in continental Europe, use Coda, want Stripe or Mercury data alongside your bank data, or connect many banks and want the lowest price per bank.
Choose BankSync if you bank in Australia; want Excel, Postgres, MySQL or webhooks as destinations; want hourly schedules; want up to 7 years of Australian history; or want the same bank connections available to SimpleFIN apps.
