**Save as template** keeps something you built as a template in your workspace's library, so you or your team can install it again, or [publish it](/docs/marketplace/marketplace-publishing) for others.

Pick what to include. Your data, connections and ids are never copied unless you choose to include a value. Installers connect their own.

## What a template keeps

- **How things work:** a table's columns, a feed's field mapping and schedule, an enrichment's conditions and actions, a dashboard's widgets and an automation's steps.
- **What the installer chooses:** your bank becomes "a bank", your sheet or database becomes "a place to write to", and an alert's recipients are left empty. Whoever installs the template connects their own.
- **Never:** your rows, transactions, balances, account numbers, credentials, ids, or where your alerts go.

## Shared values

Some of what you built uses values of your own. For example, a category you made up ("Software"), the text a rule matches (merchant contains "Uber"), a rule's name, or the text a dashboard filter compares with. These are **left out by default**, because they can name your merchants, payees or clients.

The **Shared values** section of the save dialog lists each of these values exactly as it is stored, grouped by the item it belongs to. Every box starts unticked.

**Include a value**

1. **Open Save as template** — From the item's menu, choose Save as template.
2. **Review Shared values** — Search the list, or use Select all for one item. Tick only values that
are safe for anyone who installs the template to see.
3. **Save** — Only the ticked values are included. The confirmation tells you how many
   were included.

What happens when you tick a value:

- **It travels as it is.** Anyone who installs the template sees it, and so do BankSync's reviewers if you publish it. The template's page says "Includes values chosen by the creator" and lists each value.
- **Some values can never be included.** A value that holds an email address, a phone or account number, a card number, a password or key, a web address, or an id from your workspace is shown greyed out, and saving with it ticked is refused.
- **It can let more of an item travel.** An alert, filter or split that matches text of your own can't be saved without that text, because a broader filter would hide the installer's records. Ticking the text lets it be saved. A ruleset is saved whole or not at all, so tick every value its rules need.

With nothing ticked, the template is exactly what it was before this section existed: your values stay home, and the installer is asked for, or sets up, anything that needs them.

## With an agent or the API

`blueprints_export` (MCP), `banksync blueprints export` and `POST /blueprints/export` list the values that can be included in `report.candidates`, each with a stable `id`. To include some, send their ids back in `includeValues`. Nothing is included unless its id is sent.
