## Installing the Add-on

**Installation Steps**

1. **Open Google Sheets** — Open any Google Sheets spreadsheet where you want to sync your bank data.
2. **Go to Extensions menu** — Click Extensions → Add-ons → Get add-ons to open the Google Workspace Marketplace.
3. **Search for BankSync** — Type "BankSync" in the search bar and click on the BankSync add-on.
4. **Install the add-on** — Click "Install" and grant the necessary permissions. The add-on needs access to your
   spreadsheets to write data.
5. **Authorize BankSync** — Sign in to your BankSync account to connect the add-on to your workspace and bank connections.
6. **Open the sidebar** — Once installed, go to Extensions → BankSync → Open Sidebar to start using it.

> **Permissions:** 'The add-on requires permission to access your spreadsheet data so it can write rows where you specify. It only writes to the sheets and ranges you configure and never reads or accesses anything else in your Drive.'

## Using the Add-on

The BankSync sidebar provides quick access to your feeds and sync controls:

- **View Your Feeds** — See all feeds configured for the current spreadsheet
- **Run Syncs** — Trigger incremental or date-range syncs with one click
- **Check Status** — Monitor sync progress and view recent job history
- **Quick Setup** — Create new feeds directly from the sidebar

## Creating a Feed from the Add-on

**Quick Feed Setup**

1. **Open the sidebar** — Go to Extensions → BankSync → Open Sidebar
2. **Click Create Feed** — Click the "Create Feed" button to start the setup wizard.
3. **Select your bank accounts** — Choose which connected bank accounts to include in this feed.
4. **Configure field mappings** — Map bank data fields to your spreadsheet columns. The add-on will auto-detect your header row.
5. **Set schedule (optional)** — Configure automatic syncing on an hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly schedule (the cadences
available depend on your plan; see' '
   Scheduling feeds).
6. **Save and run** — Save your feed and run your first sync to see data flow into your sheet.

> **Pro Tip:** 'The add-on automatically detects the current spreadsheet and sheet, so the integration side of the feed is pre-filled. Just configure your source accounts and field mappings!'

## Add-on vs Web App

- **Add-on: Quick Access** — Best for running syncs and quick setup while working in Sheets
- **Web App: Full Control** — Best for managing banks, viewing all feeds, and advanced configuration

> **Same Account, Different Interface:** 'The add-on connects to your existing BankSync account. Any feeds you create in the add-on appear in the web app, and vice versa. The add-on writes through the same Google Sheets integration you see on the Integrations tab.'

> **Use formulas freely:** 'Sync data to a dedicated sheet, then reference it from your budget dashboards and reports. Keeping synced rows separate from your formulas means a re-sync never overwrites your work.'

## Troubleshooting

> **Add-on not appearing?:** 'Try refreshing your Google Sheets tab. If the add-on still doesn’t appear in the Extensions menu, check that it was installed successfully in the Marketplace and that you’re signed into the correct Google account.'

> **Permission errors?:** 'The add-on needs permission to access your spreadsheets. Re-authorize by going to Extensions → BankSync → Authorize and following the prompts.'

If problems persist, check that your BankSync subscription is active, then try clearing your browser cache and reopening the sidebar.
