When your accountant or bookkeeper invites you into their client portal, or sends you a request, everything you connect there is visible to their firm. Before you join, BankSync asks you to confirm that you are happy to share with them. That is the only extra step: connecting a bank still shows your bank's usual consent screen.

## Confirming when you join

The invitation page names the firm and explains what they will see. Choosing **I agree, continue** joins the portal and records your confirmation: which firm, when, and the wording you were shown.

If you joined a portal before this step existed, BankSync asks you the next time you open the portal. You can choose **Not now** and keep using the portal, but your firm can't receive data from Australian banks you connect there until you confirm.

## Seeing who you share with

Open **Settings › Sharing** inside the portal. It lists the firm you share with and since when. If you still need to confirm, the confirmation is there too.

## Stopping sharing

On **Settings › Sharing**, choose **Stop sharing** next to the firm and confirm. The Australian bank connections you made in the portal end straight away, so the firm stops receiving their data. Anything they already copied into their own files stays with them.

Other banks you connected stay in the portal, which belongs to your firm. If you don't want the firm to see them, remove them from **Banks** before you stop sharing. Leaving the portal, or being removed from it, stops sharing in the same way.

You can share again later by confirming from the same page, then reconnecting.

> **Australian banks:** Banks connected through Australia's Consumer Data Right can be used in a client portal. Only you can connect them, after confirming sharing, and your firm receives their data only while your confirmation is in force. One person at your business connects all of the portal's Australian banks.

## For the firm

You can't confirm on a client's behalf. If a feed or sync says the client hasn't confirmed sharing, ask them to open the portal and confirm. Clients join free and never use one of your seats. When a client stops sharing, your firm's owner gets an email.

A client who answers a request confirms sharing by entering the code from the email, and can stop sharing from the request page. If your client has their own BankSync workspace instead, see [Share your workspace with your accountant](/docs/client-portals/share-with-your-accountant).
