Your client list lives on the **Clients** page. Adding a client is free on every plan, Free included, and there is no limit on how many clients you add.

> **Before you start:** 'You need to be an owner or admin of your workspace. The Clients page is hidden from editors and viewers, and from inside a client workspace.'

## Add a client

1. Open **Clients** and choose **Add a client**.
2. Enter the client's name and email.
3. Choose who pays. **Client pays** is the default: the client keeps their own workspace on their own plan and shares it with you. **You cover** is available on Professional, Business and Enterprise, and uses your plan's bank quota. See [Who pays for a client](/docs/advisors/who-pays).
4. Add any questions you want answered, and a deadline if you need one.
5. Send the request, or copy its link and send it yourself.

Your client gets an email from you, shown as "Jane Smith via BankSync". They enter the code from that email, confirm they are happy to share with you, and connect on their bank's usual consent screen. The full flow is in [Ask a client for bank data and answers](/docs/advisors/client-requests).

## Follow a client's progress

Each request on your client list shows where it stands: **Sent**, **Opened**, **Verified**, **Connected** or **Stalled**. A request reads **Stalled** after a week with no progress. Choose **Send reminder** to email your client again, at most once a day.

Once connected, each client shows the health of their bank connections, so you can see who needs to reconnect.

## Clients you cover

When you cover a client, BankSync creates a workspace for them under yours. Open the client from **Clients** to manage it.

- The **Access** tab sets whether the client can connect banks and whether they can create feeds into Google Sheets, Notion or Airtable.
- The **Resources** tab chooses which of your banks, feeds and integrations the client can see, and sets an optional limit on how many banks they can connect. A limit always sits under your plan's overall quota.
- The **Members** tab invites people at the client's business by email, as an **Editor** (can connect banks) or a **Viewer** (can see status). Invitation links expire after 7 days; resend one to issue a fresh link.

Changes on these tabs save as you make them.

Every bank a covered client connects counts against your plan's bank quota, which pools across your own workspace and every client you cover. Clients never take a seat. During your trial, covered clients can hold up to 5 bank connections in total.

## How the data reaches you

Banks your clients connect appear in your own **Banks** list, marked with the client's name. You can build feeds that read them, so your client handles the bank consent and you handle the reporting. To read every client at once from a script or an AI agent, see the [developer reference](/docs/api/portals).

## Troubleshooting

> **Common snags:** 'No Clients page? Open your main workspace as an owner or admin. "You cover" not offered? Covering a client needs Professional, Business or Enterprise; choose "Client pays" instead, or change your plan. Client did not get the email? Copy the request link and send it yourself; they still need the code from their email to open it. Bank limit reached when a covered client connects? Add bank connections from billing.'
